National Posture at School Day is a community project on a mission!
To affect the posture of the next generation by empowering school children to stand tall!
As a health expert in the area of Pilates, I am continually reminded of the impact of poor posture in adults. But the questions remains – where has it all started?
I work predominately with adults in a Pilates studio in Melbourne, and was the strength coach at the Australian Ballet School for 6 years up until 2011 where I saw first hand the impact of incredible posture on school aged children.
The National Posture at School Day project aims to sow the seed for a life of sustainable posture.
The common perception is that young children have great posture…… until they are forced to sit still in school.
I once went to see a comedian who joked about bringing up kids – spending the first 2 years of their life encouraging them to get up and walk and run …………….. and then the next 16 years telling then to sit down and be quiet.
This picture is me with my two kids, so I’m at the start of this stage now, and the motivation speaks for itself in affecting the next generation to stand tall.
Join me and the rest of Australia in embracing National Posture at School Day 2014 and empower school children across the country to stand tall!
